Eight dispatches from the bench
HP LaserJet

The Jam That Isn't There

13.20.04

Fuser area jam on the M600 series. The paper cleared but the sensor didn't. Nine times out of ten, it's a bent flag on the paper path actuator, not an actual jam.

Canon imageRUNNER

The Fixing Assembly at Hour Zero

E000020-0001

Temperature fault in the fixing assembly. Common on lightly-used iR machines that have sat — the thermistor corrodes slightly at the contact pad. Clean before you replace.

Konica Minolta bizhub

Transfer Belt Miscommunication

C-2557

Image transfer belt error on colour bizhub machines. Often the belt itself is fine — it's the position sensor losing its reference mark after a power interruption. Check the sensor before quoting a belt.

Xerox WorkCentre

The Main Motor's Quiet Failure

077-300

Main drive motor fault. The motor draws too much current at startup — sometimes a stuck gear train, sometimes a failing motor capacitor. Load the machine manually and listen before ordering the motor.

Replace Drum Won't Clear

Replace Drum

New drum installed on an HL-L2350DW but the message persists. The counter reset sequence wasn't completed. Power cycle → open cover → reinstall → hold OK on prompt. Also: verify the drum shutter opened during installation.

The Toner That Can't Be Replaced

Replace Toner

New cartridge installed, message won't clear. Most common cause: the cartridge chip wasn't making contact. Remove, clean the chip contact strip with a dry cloth, reseat firmly. If HP-branded and message persists: supply chain counterfeit chip.

Sharp MX

H7-00 and the Polygon Motor

H7-00

Laser scan motor error on the MX-3070N. The polygon mirror motor fails to reach operating speed. Before condemning the motor: check the fan exhaust — if it's clogged, the motor overheats and throttles. Clean first.

Lexmark

200 — Paper Jam, Empty Path

200 Paper Jam

Jam sensor tripped with no paper present. On older Lexmark units this is the input sensor arm — a small plastic tab that breaks off and falls onto the sensor itself. Remove the tray entirely and inspect with a flashlight before anything else.
